Hi
I was wondering whether there is a way to simulate actual failures rather than using the Aircraft Reliability feature. This would give us the opportunity of practicing for the event so when it does actually happen using Aircraft Reliability we have a better chance of handling it. I know we can use the failures feature within FSX itself to do it, but it would be so much better if we could do it in fsfs with an instructor beside us. Mr Smith would most certainly be able to help.
Thanks.

Hi Ivan:

I am not quite sure I understand your question - your instructor will react to failures that occur as a result of them being scheduled in FSX, so you can have your failures either way - from FSX or from FSFS.

There are some types of failures which can be set up in FSX that the instructor is sadly unable to detect, but this is a where a technical limitation prevents it.

Can you describe what you had in mind in more detail, with perhaps a specific example or two?

Hi
I have been searching unsuccessfully for a good fsx failure system. The one that is imbedded into FSX is not very good. eg when I activate a fuel leak, when it happens all the tanks are empty in seconds with no warning lights or alarms (I am flying the default Boeing 737-800). Unless I am actually looking at the fuel gauges at the time of the failure then it is all over. I was wondering whether I could simulate such failures similar to what is in FSX itself but with more control. eg. Control which fuel tank is leaking and at what rate etc. I have tried FS Reliability Factor which does this but it stops working after 20 minutes unless I pay the $7 registration fee which I would happily do but there is no access anymore to any website to allow me to make the payment. I thought maybe there is an .ini or.cfg file hidden away somewhere within FSFS which allows me to do this. I just want to be able to practice all the different failures so that when I turn on random failures I am not experiencing them for the first time. Failing this are you aware of any good FSX Failure programs that are still available free or payware?
Thanks
Ivan

Hi Ivan:

Yes - I see what you mean about being able to practice for these failures and wanting to have precise control with lots of options over what failure simulation is being run for that session.

FSFlyingSchool can certainly give you a fuel leak, but you cannot, as you know, select it and there is no way to configure certain failures - such a scheme is not part of the software.

The best I can say is that your thoughts will indeed be added to our list of things to look into, as possible features in future versions.

Say... what does everyone else think? Ideas of failures?
