I have written an fsu file for my Carenado Piper PA-28-236 Dakota, a member of the Piper Cherokee family.  When setting maximum speed for extended flaps I found no indication that there was a separate speed for each flap setting.  I found on the web a reference to Vfe of 102 KIAS which I take to mean that, regardless of how many degrees of flap you have, the maximum indicated airspeed in 102 KIAS

Welcome to the forum!

Many thanks for creating the FSU file - we periodically add them to the Hangar as FSR files for others to enjoy and at that time we do our best to check that they represent reasonable data on the aircraft in question.

So please go ahead and attach it to a reply to this forum post.

Keep 'em comin'!

If any other users have comments on submitted FSU files please let us know.

I inadvertently sent my previous post before I had a chance to complete it.

What I intended was to point out that Vfe for the Dakota is 102 KIAS but the published fsr file for the generic Cherokee says max indicated air speed for the first two of the three flap settings are 85 and 70 KIAS respectively.  The check list provided by Carenado states that the recommended landing speed is 72 KIAS and that on take off with flaps you accelerate to 85 KIAS before you start to raise flaps.  These figures are at odds with those in the published Cherokee fsr so I was wondering if anyone has a comment on this.

G'day,

This is in my Carenado_Cherokee.fsr file. The numbers look ok compared to some of the other machines. Are you missing the first flaps line?

IASTooFastForFlaps0=100
IASTooFastForFlaps1=85
IASTooFastForFlaps2=70

The numbers from Carenado seem to mesh with what wikipedia has.

Steven.
