I am a new user to FSFS Pro 2013 for P3d....
I enjoy the program very much....I have received
much support from Robert...thank you Robert!..

The P3D Manual on page 14 has a list of airplanes
that can score points, etc....is this the same as the
airplanes that this version supports and for which the
program has built in data files?.....is the list of data
file supported airplanes the same in P3d as it is in the
FSX version?... is there a list or file some
place with all the data files for the airplanes that this
version (P3D) supports?....where do we find newly
supported airplane data files for the P3D version?...
thanks, John Helms

Hi John:

Thanks for your post and your kind words. Glad you are enjoying the product!

The planes are indeed the same in our FSX and P3D versions.

Furthermore - they are indeed the planes which can score points on our website.

The stats on the planes are read by FSFS when it "connects" to the simulator.

Planes that are not on this list are supported by FSFS for FSX and P3D as their stats are determined from the data that the simulator is always able to provide to our software. Such planes get a score of course, but the scores cannot be submitted to our website.

If the users wishes, although this is not in any way required, the stats can be adjusted by the user at the aircraft screen of FSFS.

The lists of planes in the latest version of FSF PRO 2013 are complete - there are no more planes (FSR files) on the web at the time I write this.

I hope this helps.

Not sure where to post this: i am getting to grips with the Flying School and it is great. However i am trying to see if the A2A Piper Cherokee is compatible with the program....I too have the spoiler problem but have disabled that but is the aircraft compatible as the program doesnt seem to recognise it. Thanks!

Well I now see that the A2A plane is in the folder of Flight School aircraft files but it isnt being picked up......what to do?

Hi:

Thanks for your interest in FSFS and your kind words!

The airplane has no FSFS profile, but, as with all the rest of the planes in the world, your FSFS instructors will be happy to take you up in one!

The key point is that FSFS supports the use of any powered airplane.

If the plane is one of those that has an FSFS profile, then the instructor will know several details about the plane and you will also be able to submit scores to the website when flying that plane.

If the plane is not one of those that has an FSFS profile, then the instructor will estimate general basics of the plane (stall speed etc) but you will not be able to submit scores to the website when flying that plane.

Note - I refer above to submitting scores to the website. 1000s of people do this and 1000s of people do not. It's up to you. The key point is that this has nothing to do with getting scores for your performance, after every flight, from your instructor - you get that in any powered airplane.

We do have FSFS profiles for 3 types of Cherokee, but not the A2A one yet.

Note of course that as explained in the manual, at the FSFS Aircraft Screen you can adjust those values for your plane that the instructor has deduced and fine tune them with values you may have at your disposal.

Finally - we have a profile for the A2A Cessna 172.

Hi
I've just purchased FS Flying School Pro 2014 for P3d.
It works really well and I am delighted with my purchase. Circuits are already improving.

1
However, I am flying the A2A Cessna 172 and the program is not recognising it properly.
The banner says Unknown Aircraft and then Estimating Settings.
So - it does work (as you have said for any powered aircraft) but not as I would expect for a 'detailed' aircraft.
(For example it suggests 1900 RPM for landing when I think 1500 is more normal).
The 'Aircraft' page says Unknown Aircraft BUT 'Monitor Cessna 172' is not greyed out and is ticked.
Am I doing something wrong?

2
Can you also clarify how to operate Checklists for this aircraft and what the Control Shift N command should do?

Many thanks.

Hi Dean:

Thanks for your interest in FSFS!

OK - you have an aircraft that is being given the detail pack treatment, but it is not one that comes with its own specific profile file in FSFS and so that is why FSFS says it is unknown.

Effectively FSFS is saying "I am pretty sure this is a c172 but I don't know all the details the publisher may have specified".

I am not at my desk right now but am pretty sure that the 1900 RPM is specified by CFI Rod Machado for the default c172 - so that is where that value is coming from.

The checklists are read by the instructor if the detail pack is being used (you can turn it off as you will know) AND the pilot says "next checklist" or the pilot presses crtl N.

The program looks at where you are in your flight and figures out what is next.

The key point for the overall experience with the A2A c172 is that the programming is modeled on the default c172, but can also be used with the A2A.

I hope that helps!

Hi again Dean:

I have to say I am not entirely clear on this point at present - not at my desk but hope to get more details to you tomorrow.

I cannot recall if there is a specific A2A c172 file included with FSFS for P3Dv2 or for FSX for that matter. I'll look into it!

Hi Dean:

Back at desk!

I can see what the issue is here - FSFS for FSX has a profile for the A2A c172 - it is:
A2A_C172.fsr

There is no reason this file cannot be used with the P3Dv2 version of FSFS PRO 2014.

However - just like all other FSR files - it works so long as the FOLDER which contains the aircraft for the simulator has exactly the same name.

The file is available from us here...

www.fsflyingschool.com/aircraft/A2A_C172.fsr

Just download it and put it into your FSFlyingSchool AIRCRAFT folder before you next session with FSFlyingSchool.

Once this is done you will no longer see the "unknown aircraft" message from FSFS for P3Dv2.
