I am currently using a CH Yoke for those aircraft which FLY with a Yoke ; incidently, on SOME A/C, I feel I don't have enough Trim motion available, but that is another issue. I use a CH Joystick for those with sticks... I HAVE CH pedals, but haven't connected them as yet. Will FSFS keep up with changing aircraft, AND when I install the pedals?? Flying smooth, realistic flights with splendid landings is a lot easier, in our opinion, with good flight controls. If you can get hold of them, use a joystick or yoke. If you have funding to spare, get a throttle and rudder pedals. These make a huge difference in smooth aircraft control and of course in your own immersion in the simulation.

Norm: Welcome to the forum! >> I am currently using a CH Yoke for those aircraft which FLY with a Yoke ; incidently, on SOME A/C, I feel I don't have enough Trim motion available, but that is another issue. I've used the CH yoke and rudder pedals a great deal - good equipment and a great combination with FSFS. I typically use them, or a joystick, depending on the aircraft as you described. To get the most from FSFS, check the box to indicate that you have yoke pressure when using the yoke because that way you will be expected to use your trimmers to trim the aircraft correctly so that you don't need all that hand-wrist-arm pressure on the yoke. The same would be true of a joystick if it had a powerful spring in it which most of them don't. Also check the box to indicate you have rudder pedals when you are using them - this will cause the instructor to expect you to use them appropriately! At present this means that the instructor will be watching to be sure that your turns are coordinated. FSFS knows that when you are coming in to land you may be using the rudder in other ways and so will allow for this. If you like to score points(!) then crosswind landings are a good way to get them up in the higher reaches of the score tables on the web, and for this you certainly will need your rudder pedals or a twist grip (rudder) joystick. Let us know how you get on!
