When trying to land with crosswinds set to 50 knots say, i have a whale of a time fighting to keep control of the aircraft against the winds especially if I have gusts enabled as well. The problem occurs when I get to about a mile from the airport and the wind effect dissapears leaving me flying in the wrong direction and then having to make huge adjustments to be able to land, but then , of course, the landing appears to be a normal straight on windless one. Strangely the smoke from airport chimneys remains traveling at right angles with the wind although the wind has no effect on my aircraft!!  Any help with this anomally would be greatly appreciated.  I have tried approaches with UK2000 airports and Aerosoft airports and FSX default ones, all the same problem. Thanking you in advance.  Tony.

Hi Tony:

I don't think we've heard of this issue before so that strongly suggests there is something unique about your scenario or your system.

Are you using add-on weather?

Also - can you be a test pilot for a minute and tell me if this occurs when you get close to the runway or... rather... when you descend below a certain height above ground? My instinct tells me that this might be related to the "bands" of winds in FSX at different levels above ground.

Hi Squadron Leader.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I was going to sent you a couple of short video clips but it seems I can't. I think the fault lies purely within my FSX as I have tried a number of tests at different altitudes with different aircraft and the result is always the same even when I don't use FS Instant Approach! I have been thinking of using a 12 bore shotgun on my computer for some time now so I think the time is right! Should I ever get another system up and running FS Instant Approach will undoubtedly be one of my first add ons. Thanks again.

Tony.

Hi Tony:

Good luck with the project!

Are you using add-on weather?

I use Opus live weather but I have not used it in FSIA yet!

Can I use it??

And what settings to use then in FSIA ( do I have to set no wind entry and direction ) ????

Robert

Hi:

As you can imagine, we cannot check all the add-ons made by 3rd parties so please download our free demo and give it a try.

It has no time limit so you can really get to know it before deciding on making a purchase.

You should only make a purchase if you have already decided that it is working to your complete satisfaction on your PC, the way you like to fly.
