Hi everyone,

I have been browsing the website and watched the demo movies. I am just in the final stages of building my new system (see below). I am planning on running both FS9 and FSX, what do I have to do to get FSFS to recognize both systems? Or do I have to have two separate installs?
Do I have to have different versions of FSUIPC?

Intel Dual Core 2.66
4GB RAM
Vista Premium 64
Video 1 - (for Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital and Main panel screen) - ASUS EN8800ULTRA/HTDP/768MB
Video 2 - (for side monitor - radio stacks, throttles etc and eventually overheads) - ASUS EN8600GT/HTDP/256M

that's it for my first post :-)

thanks in advance
Don

Don:

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you're building one heck of a system - will be quite the rig when done.

To get to your questions:

Many members of the FSFlyingSchool community have both the latest versions of FS running on their systems, with no problems.

You will need 2 versions of FSUIPC: a version 3.xxx for FS2004 and a version 4.xxx for FSX. Neither of these need to be registered, so you can use them for free. Make sure you keep these up to date - always use the latest version of each.

FSFlyingSchool will install FSUIPC 3.xxx for you if
(a) it detects FS2004 and
(b) you don't already have FSUIPC 3.xxx.

FSFlyingSchool cannot install FSUIPC 4.xxx - that's done using Peter Dowson's install program - you download that from his site www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

We've even created a short YouTube movie which shows you how to do this.
It's on this forum under the topic: "Using FSFlyingSchool with FSX?"

The FSUIPC files will be stored for you in folders in FS2004 and FSX respectively.

You will not need 2 installations of FSFlyingSchool.

FSFlyingSchool detects which version of FS is running and communicates with that.

Here at 'The Lab' we do this all the time - we have many PCs configured with both, running just fine.

A key point here is to understand that the only difference between the free demo (always available from our site) www.fsflyingschool.com and the full product is that in the full product you can fly anywhere on the planet (the demo restricts you to the Chicago area) and you can submit your best scores to our web tables. There is no other difference.

So - please test the whole thing out on your equipment to make sure you are quite happy with everything and if the time should come that you'd like to venture out beyond the region of KORD Chicago O'Hare, make your purchase.

Please let us know if you have any other questions - we're here to help.

Best Regards -
