During landing I keep getting a command to raise the gear.  This occurs when I am close to the ground and at landing speed.  I am in the landing phase.

Hi -

Your instructor will ask you to raise the gear if:

1. You are flying too fast to be operating with gear down.

2. You are not in landing mode and are not in the process of leaving the ground during take off.

You've reported a scenario in which neither of these are the case and so this is puzzling.

Can you give me the data for the scenario please?

I would like:

- Aircraft name and publisher
- Is the data supplied by yourself (FSU file) or by FSFlyingSchool (FSR file) or estimated by FSFS?
- Speed being flown (KIAS)
- Above ground level (feet)

...and can you also paste into your reply the contents of the FSR file if the data comes from FSFS or the FSU file if the data comes from yourself.
These files are in
C:\Program Files (x86)\FSFlyingSchool\Aircraft

I am new to this program and have only had it for a day so am still learning so could have fouled something up.  I was flying the Carenado C182, was doing landings at KPWT and using voice control.  I just started FSX then opened FSFlying school and connected.  I did not load a specific plane.I thought it automatically would find the plane.  I don't remember exactly when it started the raise gear command but once it started it continued all the way to touchdown.  The interesting thing was the landing was graded at 81.  I would assume my speeds etc. were good.

I have the complete package with all of the addon's.

Hi -

This ("let's get the gear up" at the wrong time) is not a common problem so I think it best to concentrate on how the process is started and also to try some other planes.

Make certain that you always get into a plane first in FSX and only then return to Windows and launch the FSFlyingSchool program - this is discussed in detail in the manual.

As I recall the c182 certainly has a fixed gear type - was the type you were flying a retractable gear type or not?

How did you get into landing mode (what method - voice, keyboard or auto-detection)?

Does this issue occur every time?

I cannot recall this problem occurring before and so I am sure it can be solved.

I did several flights last night and all went well with no past problems.  I did make sure the "plane" page had data entered for the Carrenado C182.  It does have retractable gear.  The instructor was a little "picky" on maintaining the localizer even though the glide slope and localizer was pegged the entire approach.  Maybe he was having a bad day..grin  On the last flight he grade it at 87 and gave it 100 on maintaing the localizer.  Who knows?

This a great program and as the learning curve goes up it will get better.

Thanks,

Tom
