I like to start all my flights Cold & Dark so I can go through the correct startup proceedures and FSFS doesn't appear to like this as it detects the electrical system is inoperative when the flight starts and reports this as a failure on the flight log (I also get a OH OHHH from the instructor). Does this detract from my flight scores or can I just ignore it? Obviously it would be good if future versions of FSFS could detect or had a setting for cold & dark starts. Pie.

Cold & Dark is an interesting point and one that we will look at in the development department. If the user were to indicate that the flight is starting this way then a whole host of features could be coded around that fact, including a different handling of the reporting the failure you described. For the time being, rest assured that this will not detract from your scores - this aspect (failures affecting scores) is something we are bringing into FSFS, but it is not in effect yet.

I'm glad that this has given you something to think about, and perhaps an interesting new feature for a future version of FSFS. In the meantime to get round the problem I just connect FSFS to FSX in flight when engines are running, all systems are live and I'm ready to start taxiing.
