Landing Competition for FSFS2011

Everyone can download and try FSFlyingSchool2011 for free from here: http://www.fsflyingschool.com/download/FSFlyingSchool_2011_Setup.exe

If you own FSFS2011 you can participate in our unique

Landing Competition where the winner gets a $50.00 gift certificate to spend at FSPilotShop.com!

It's time to put your flying skills to the test and win a whole lot of Flight Simulation goodies for your effort!

It couldn't be easier to take part.

Competition Rules

Just perform the best landing you can in a

Douglas DC-3

and submit the score to the FSFlyingSchool Landing Score table using the standard link displayed at the Log Book Screen in FSFlyingSchool 2011 after a flight.

Submit as many landings as you like!

The pilot with the best score at the end of the competition will receive a $50.00 (US Dollars) gift certificate for FSPilotShop.com from us.

Terms and conditions

We don't want this to be a test of flying in poor visibility and so scores with visibility under 15 miles will be excluded.

The competition is for landings (not flights or circuits) in a

Douglas DC-3

Any other variants of this plane will be excluded.

Landings must be submitted to the FSFlyingSchool Landing Score table using the link in FSFlyingSchool. No other data will be considered.

Employees of FSInventions and their immediate families are excluded from participation.

Entries must be submitted to the FSFlyingSchool Landing Score table for the Douglas DC-3

and once submitted appear here,

between the hours of:

SEP 30 2011    01:00 PST

and

OCT 09 2011    01:00 PST

(Note that times shown on the high score tables are all PST).

At the end of the competition, the username of the winner will be posted on the FSFlyingSchool Forum and the winner invited to contact us - this is essential as we will not have any way to contact you!

Once the winner's FSFlyingSchool registration data has been verified, the $50.00 (US Dollars) gift certificate for FSPilotShop.com will be emailed to the winner by us.

Good luck!

Remember that you must have visibility of greater than 15 miles, but you can increase your chances of winning by landing with a savage crosswind which is at a very severe angle to your approach to landing. If you can still land well in such circumstances, you will get a rather nice score.

Whoa... Looks like I won this competition.

Thanks a lot to FSInventions for making the landing competition.

Yes Squadron Leader. It does take a lot of crosswind to really get the score cooking. In my case, I set the wind to 24 knots of winds at a 90 degree angle to the runway (And a visibility of 30 miles) The wind makes the twitchy DC-3 even more unstable, but I got lucky and got Mr. Smith down in one piece, and he rewarded me accordingly.

I do however, believe that some of the points were given me, because I promised to not mention the state of Mr. Smith´s trousers after I set the aircraft down...

Well done Peter! Excellent performance!

And well done to landing competitors: Ole, Henry, Ralph, Toshi, Jae and Joe.

We hope everyone had fun with this competition - it's our first based on our scoring tables and everything appears to have worked!

We plan to have another soon, most likely in a somewhat more popular aircraft.

That being said, it was a lot of fun trying to get good results in that venerable old tail-dragger - the DC-3.

Peter - your gift certificate will be emailed to you shortly.

Thank you Squadron Leader.

More contests? Great.

I shall await eagerly my prize. Now... what should I treat myself with?

Eh.... Just one more thing! Not a unkind word about the DC-3. Its one great aircraft to fly.

Yesterday I received my gift certificate from FSPilotShop - for $50.

It´s amazing how getting your hands on an unexpected $50 all of a sudden, can make you giddy.

I went through the entire catalog over there, to find out what I should get for myself. After looking at highend B737´s, at Mission making utilities, and even considering waiting for Just Flight´s upcoming Legends of flight title - The Viscount! I ended up chipping in my own $10 and ordering FS Global Ultimate Europe/Africa. A 40 Gigabyte addon.... Now that is value for your money, I should think...

This way I can think of FSFlyingSchool and the competition on a daily basis, when I fly around in these two continents.

And later I will top this with FS Global Ultimate Americanas (both North and South America in this version) and at Christmas - the Asia/Oceania version - finally covering all the world with 100+ GB mesh improvement...

Once again - thanks a lot to the guys here in FSFlyingSchool for this wonderful competition.

Hi Toshi -

We had a good response to this competition and it was not in a commonly used, nor easy to land (DC-3 is a taildragger) plane.

We plan to have another soon - most likely in a more commonly used plane - that should lead to some pretty stiff competition! All part of the fun!
