Hi there

Just purchased FSF 2011 complete with the Voice thingie and the Cessna pack and had a couple of questions - Firstly, I know that the blurb says that it will work with ANY Cessna 172.  Has anybody tried it with the Carenado model and can attest that it does indeed function fully before I splash out (I have the Carenado C152 II and love it, so am all for another of Carenado's offerings).

And secondly, is there any way that FSF can facilitate a "Cold and Dark" start-up procedure.  FSX always has me ready to throttle up.  I have read elsewhere that I have to systematically turn everything off and then save the sim in that state in order for the next time I fly.  Which is all fine and dandy if you know what to switch off and what state the plane would ordinarily be in at start-up.  I will be totally honest and say that I am fairly ignorant of A LOT of the plane's instrumentation which is why I'm using FSF as a learning tool.  And I want to glean as much information as FSF has to offer.

Having watched the Youtube clip about the Cessna Detail Pack I do know that I am missing an awful lot of what is being said by the instructor when I advance the sim to "take-off".  Is there any chance you could incorporate Cold & Dark in your program, or maybe provide a "walk-through" on the website please?

Cheers, Andy

Hi -

Good ideas!

You can put yourself in a Cold and Dark situation like this:

Parking brake ON
Flaps UP
Mixture pulled OFF
Fuel cut off OUT
Avionics OFF
All lights OFF
Alternator OFF
Master Battery OFF
Ignition Key OFF
Fuel Selector LEFT or RIGHT

and then save the file - as you suggested.

As I recall the FS2004 Carenado worked great with the Cessna Pack - I don't know that we have feedback on the FSX version - but I would be surprised if it were otherwise. I'd like to hear what other folks have experienced.

I use the FSX version of the Carenado C172, and 182RG with no problems.
