I downloaded FSFS 2010 Demo a few days ago but have been unable to start it.  Every time I try to launch the program I get an error message:  "Error 2147024770 Automation error.  The specified module could not be found. Location:  FileExists".

There is at least one other post on this forum with the same topic, but the answers offered there do not work for me ( I am logged on as adminstrator, and I believe I have the latest Windows Script Runtime.  I have also tried redownloading FSFS a couple of times).

My setup is as follows:  Windows XP 32-bit SP3, FS9.1, FSUIPC 3.98.  Pentium Dual Core 3.2GHz, GeForce GTS250, 3.2MB RAM.

I would be grateful if someone could help me as I am really interested in the features that FSFS has to offer.

David

Hi:

We are looking at this -

FSFS is running with FSX and FS2004 on XP, Vista and Win 7 all over the world so we can only imagine that there is something unusual about the PC in question.

Is it used for programming?

Thanks for looking into this.

The PC has never been used for programming, it's just a desktop PC with the usual Microsoft Office software.  Of course over the last couple of years or so I have added software related to flight simulation - scenery/aircraft addons, gmax, drivers for goflight modules, multiple displays, yoke, pedals etc.

I am no computer expert at all, so I find it hard knowing where to start looking.  I tried to go down the window runtime script route with no success - when I try downloading the latest runtime script from MS website, I get a message which says that I already have an updated copy on my computer.  Could it be that my runtime script is corrupted or disabled in any way (if that is even possible) ?

I imagine it could be damaged certainly...

The best information I have suggests that you might download Windows Script 5.7 for XP from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=47809025-d896-482e-a0d6-524e7e844d81&displaylang=en

and follow the instructions to install and let us know what result that produces.

I tried the link you kindly supplied, unfortunately I get the following message when I try installing - "Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.  There is no need to install this update."

Hi again - at this point we're still looking into it - but things do not look good.

This is why we offer free demos (as you mentioned having downloaded) of all our products of course so folks can make sure they like what they see before even thinking about spending any money.

There must be something unusual about your PC which we have not before encountered.

If we find any other ideas for a solution we will let you know.
