Circuit Training and Touchdown Points - Need... Expand / Collapse

I'm really enjoying FSFS and it's really helping me to improve my navigation and flying skills.
I have the Voice Command Pack and the Cessna C172 add-ons.

When I am Circuit Training, I have the impression that the Flight Instructor is competing with the Circuit Instructor.
I know they're the same but due to how the speech is programmed, I can't fly Circuits without the other Instructor constantly interrupting me with comments about height, flight mode, flaps down, flaps up, too high, too low etc.

1. Is this because I'm using the C172 add-on pack? if yes, how can I deactivate it for Circuit Training?
2. Can I fly Circuits with only the circuit instructor and not the regular 'flight mode' instructor?


I am also trying to understand Touchdown Points.
I rarely fly the same airport twice, and I don't want to have to slew to my destination to set up a touchdown point before every flight.

3. Based on the picture below, where exactly does FSFS expect you to land?



The manual says the physical start of the runway. According to everything I have read and learnt about landings, this isn't right.

4. Can I edit a setting somewhere in FSFS to move the touchdown point a set distance, for example 100ft, down EVERY runway in the world or do I have to manually configure each custom landing spot?

I don't know how easy this would be but if I had the option to display a custom object, for example a small orange flag, at the touchdown point, this would help tremendously with my landing training.

They certainly are the same person and they really do work together - this has been in place since 2006.

The C172 pack means that the instructor has a lot more to say and if you add into that the fact that you are circuit training, things can get very wordy up there.


2. Can I fly Circuits with only the circuit instructor and not the regular 'flight mode' instructor?

This is not an option, but you might perhaps try flying in a c182 so that you do not get all that detail about best climbing speeds etc from the c172 loving instructor.

And remember that you only need to do that if you want to change the default point that FSFS uses as the touchdown target.

The manual says the physical start of the runway. According to everything I have read and learnt about landings, this isn't right.

This is a simplification due to the limitations and reliability of the data we have available to us from FS. The landing spot FSFS is looking for you to land at is "A" in your diagram.

No - this is not what you would do in the real world, but we had to choose something you could see for certain, that is, the physical start of the runway, and something that was consistent in the FS data - which this is.

In a version we plan to publish very soon - this will be greatly improved...

The easy option is to land with ILS - then all this is avoided. But if you want to land visual or at fields without ILS then you can either create a custom spot or land at the physical start of the runway. The good news is that...   "In a version we plan to publish very soon - this will be greatly improved... "

I don't know how easy this would be but if I had the option to display a custom object, for example a small orange flag, at the touchdown point, this would help tremendously with my landing training.

Placing extra objects into FS is not part of FSFS yet, but if you just plop her down at the physical start of the runway for now or go ILS you'll get good results. And stay tuned for news of the much publicized...  "In a version we plan..."  etc etc
