 I am new to FSFlying School and I like it a lot. I have only made 4 flights with it. New as I am, my questions may sound silly, but here it goes: I have a peculiar problem though: My wife, sitting in the next room, complains that the instructor's voice is too loud. I had a look at the interface and found one place to tick where one turns off the sound completely--that will not do, as it kills the program, of course. Is there a way I can turn down the instructor's voice? I tried lowering the volume of FS but I could not hear the engines when the instructor's volume was acceptable. A 2nd question: How do I go about adding addon aircraft to the aircraft list? Thanks for any help you may have.

You can lower the volume of the instructors at the Aircraft Screen of FSFS. You could also raise the volume of all the other sounds in FS and then turn the overall computer volume down in Windows (or by turning a knob on your speakers) and see how you like that effect. Or of course you could use a headset for all sounds...  >> A 2nd question: How do I go about adding addon aircraft to the aircraft list? You can use any powered airplane with FSFS - it will figure out approximate values for all the speeds etc. You can then fine tune these if you wish. (See manual). Creating new files for these planes and adding them to The Hangar section of this forum is only needed if you want to submit scores to the website in these aircraft. Just create the stats at the aircraft page of FSFS and then send us the file you created. (See manual). But remember - some folks miss this point - this is only needed if you want to submit scores to the website in these aircraft.

Thanks Squadron Leader for your help.
I will follow your advice and fix that volume problem and will try to get the other stuff going as well.
I noticed that the name of one of the instructors is Whittle, and wonder whether he was named after Frank Whittle, the English inventor of the jet engine.

| Glad to help - good luck with the sounds. Yes indeed - Whittle for Frank Whittle, R J Mitchell for the Spitfire and Howard Hughes for several aircraft. Aviatrix - female aviator. Mr Smith - oh - he's just Mr Smith, although some folks think he is related to the sinister, unsavory fellow in The Matrix...

It is a pity many of their aircraft cannot be flown with FS Flying School.

If the aircraft you are referring to, are available in FS2004 or FSX, they can all be flown with FSFlyingSchool. Like SL said above, some cannot submit scores to the highscorelist, but thats all. Apart from that, every plane is flyable with FSFlyingSchool. They will be estimated by the program, or you can adjust the suggested settings yourself, should you think they are inaccurate.
Its fantastic really -if you ask me.

| Thanks Ole for helping Jinx about the aircraft point! Jinx: As Ole says - there are no aircraft that cannot be flow with FSFS, except for helicopters and gliders. If it's a powered airplane - you can use it with FSFS. Are you saying it's a pity that you cannot find famous aircraft made by those people for Flight Simulator? I'm not completely sure what you mean...

But the beauty if it, is that you do not need an .fsr file to fly a plane in FSFlyingchool.  Only to submit scores to the highscorelist on the website.
If there is no .fsr file for a plane, then FSFlyingSchool will make an estimate for the plane settings based on the plane files in your FS folder. You do not need to do anything at all - apart from flying the plane and enjoy yourself that is. FSFlyingSchool will take care of the rest.
