Hi,

An ambition of mine is to fly around the world using FSX Acceleration, with various stop overs.

I know I can do it in FSX alone, but, is it possible to plan this with FSFS 2010? Can I plan it all as one continuous journey or do I need to put in flightplans for each 'leg' of the journey?

It's a good landing if you can still get the doors open.

As far as I'm aware you can't use FSFS to plan flights, but you can take your instructor along with you in any plane and anywhere you want to go, so I don't see why you couldn't do this.

Instead of planning each individual flight you might want to consider Around the World in 80 Flights, which got a pretty good review at Avsim and it would save you a lot of the hassle of planning.

Hi,

Thanks but I would rather plan it myself, tough, but much more satisfying. So if I plan my route with FSX then FSFS will go along with this? I have got the full version of FSFS but I haven't used it yet.

I think it will take me a couple of days to plan. And I can schedule about 10 hours per week actual flying time.

If you check out the competitions link of this forum, you will see that it has been done...at least the around the world flight.  May have to scroll several pages deep, but there was flight plan we used and some fun side stories about our massive trip.  Took about 8 months to complete.  Check it out.

CM:

Sounds great - just create your flight plans (one for each leg) in FSX and load them into FSFS each time you fly.

I strongly recommend that you try some short flights first with FSFS, using FSX flight plans, to get the hang of it before going further.

And Joe is right - there are some great illustrated reads in the Competitions section!

Thanks for the advise chaps.

I'm going to take SquadronLeader's advise and fly some shortish trips first.

Maybe do a mini tour of Europe, from my home town airport Birmingham to Berlin, Prague, Paris, Madrid and back to Birmingham.

I'll let you know what Mr Smith says!!

Always start small mate, especially doing a round the world trip.  I have Around the World in 80 flights as previously alluded to.

I am on leg 16 flying from Cairo to Luxor at the moment.  I must admit I do use a different plane from the one that comes with the program.  I use a Beach King Air 350 as my default.  On the longer trips I will go for a 737-800 or something of that ilk.

Planning a round the world trip does take ALOT of time to just to the planning phase.  Actually flying it is a whole new ballgame!

Just to let you know, I have has Around the World on 80 Trips for about 2 months now.  I am on leg 16 out of 80...
