I just upgraded to fsfs 2010 hoping it would allow me to start with a flight plan. Not able to do it.

I could'nt do it with the 2009 version as well.

Anything I'm missing?

Hi there -

Flight plans are created, by you, in FS2004 or FSX and then they can be loaded into FSFS at the FSFS Flight Plan screen.

The files created end in the extension:   PLN
For example: "VFR Meigs to Gen Mitchell Intl.PLN"

By default, they are stored here:

For FS2004
C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files

For FSX
C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi again -

The instructors are always talking AGL (Above ground level) rather than MSL, except for one call of 10,000 at 10,000 MSL.

They use AGL most importantly to help you when on approach and landing.

In a simulator it is very difficult to get an idea of how high above the ground you are - much harder than in a real airplane, and so Smitty and his team call off altitudes in AGL to help you with orientation.
