I hope someone can help me.

I have FSX and I purchased the book Microsoft Flight Simulator X For Pilots: Real World Training. It has some example flights you can watch. In the book it will tell you to load the file and watch the tutorial. Files from their website that you can download. I downloaded them and put them in my Documents folder like it says to do. When I double click on those FSR files my PC (running windows vista 32) asks me what program to open them with.

I tried opening them in FSX by starting a flight, then clicking View and Flight Replay. It again lists these FSR files. I click on one/any of them and click PLAY. It tells me file read error, exit. Then returns me to the simulation window.

I searched online about this FSR files and it tells me to download a windows registry editor/clean up program. I downloaded this program WHICH THEY SAID WAS FREE. I run the program it tells me I need to purchase the full version in order to make my PC associate these FSR files. I (like a dumb ***) purchase the full version $29.95 and it runs the program. Then tells me everything is synced up. I try and open the FSR files again and it still asks me what program I want to open them with.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Thanks!

Hi there gigemaggs99 (How do you all come up with those exotic names???? )

Microsoft Flight Simulator X For Pilots: Real World Training! I have that wonderful book too. Great many hours of reading and testing in your favorite flightsimulator (FSX)

BEWARE of all those programs that promise you FREE DOWNLOAD or FREE SCAN! Yes they will allow you to download it, and scan your computer, but when it comes up with "456 problems found" then you have to pay to get the problems fixed. There are lots of good FREEware programs that will clean your reg.database and stuff, so dont fall for those cheap tricks - and expensive programs! But this is not at all necessary here.

The FSR files. (strange - FSFS also uses the extension .fsr for the planefiles, but never mind that)

You dont need any program to see the clips. They are to be watched inside of FSX. When you have a plane on the ground - or in the air, but anyway, in a plane in FSX, then you press "Options" and then "Flight Video" and if you have put the files into your "Flight Simulator X Files" folder in "Documents" then they will all show up in there, and you just select one, and click "play clip", then FSX will load it like a normal chosen flight, and start in paused mode. Press "P" and the clip will run.

gigemaggs99, It's what us AGGIES say GIG 'EM!. I'm Class of '99.

I tried loading the file clips in the video player like you suggested. When I do it tells me File Load Failed. Then the only option it gives me is to CLOSE and it takes me back to the simulator.

Hi Gigemaggs99

Sorry for the delay. I must have missed this one for a few days.

This is indeed strange. Could you try to send me, via email, one of a couple of the files that dont work? I would like to test them on my system.

If its not the files, then it must be an error in your FSX installation/setup, but lets start by looking at the files.

My email is oandreasen@gmail.com
