.. Rringgg Rringgg Rringgg Rringgg Rringgg Rringgg Wake up all you ex temporary Australian residents. It’s nearly time to kick the tyres, swing the prop & take to the skies for Phase II of the Sydney to Singapore Sweet & Sour Tour Looking at the charts it seems that we have a lot of hill, or rather avoiding the hills, flying to do during this phase. The highest airfield is 3500ft but no r/w’s shorter than 3,300ft, shame! For the historians amongst you the following link will give you an outline of the relatively short history of your final destination airstrip in Singapore, Tengah Air Base, home to the F16’s of the Singapore Air Force. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tengah_Air_Base For the non historians amongst you – a little humour, depending on your humour, always a tricky one.
Just remember, if you crash because of weather, your funeral will be held on a sunny day. (Layton A. Bennett, "Never fly the 'A' model of anything") When a prang seems inevitable, endeavour to strike the softest, cheapest object in the vicinity as slowly and gently as possible. (Advice given to RAF pilots during W.W.II) The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life where you get to experience all three at the same time. Happy New Year & be safe Biggles
