I just upgraded to FSFS 2010 and my first flight about 10 nm from landing FSFS disconnected due to change in time or date. What would have made this happen so I know I won't spend a whole flight just to have it disconenct at the end? Thank you.

Hi there -

Sorry to hear about the disconnection.

The first thing I can say is that nothing about this logic has changed in FSFS2010 as compared to previous versions, so whatever caused it would have made the same thing happen in FSFS2009 or FSFS Classic.

The essential element of what is happening is that FSFS has looked at the time of day as reported to it FS and found that the difference between the current time of day and the time of day 0.5 seconds ago is large and therefore a serious change has been made to the flight.

FSFS will not evaluate flights flown in such a way (nor with an altered simulation rate, nor with slewing etc...) and so it disconnects.

Pausing the simulation for a long time will not cause a disconnection as the whole FS world is frozen (time is not passing) when paused.

However - this may help - (from the FSFS Forum FAQ)...

How is the aircraft's clock used?
FSFlyingSchool expects the aircraft's clock (which represents the time of day in the simulated world) to pause when the pilot presses pause or accesses a menu item in Flight Simulator. If this does not occur, time is ticking by even though the pilot is not actually flying the plane - FSFlyingSchool does not encourage this sort of flight simulation.

There is a setting in FS which controls this - please make sure your clock stops when the program is paused.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply. I did pause a couple of times during the flight so that may be why. I never had that happen before so I was just curious. I'll keep an eye out for those suggestions if I have to pause it again. Thanks again!
