| Is there a shortcut key to connect(and disconnect) the program whilst flying, rather than having to minimise FS9 and then maximize FSFS to click the "Connect" button? As I said in my previous post, I have just started with FSFS and there's probably a lot I have to learn still, but the handbook doesn't make any mention of this. Thanks Stan

Hi Stan.
No there is no shortcut. But if you fly FS in windowed mode and put an icon of FSFS on the process line, then you only need to click it to bring FSFS up, while FS is running in the background. then just click somewhere on the FS screen to bring FS to the foreground. Easy and neat.
But if you use FS in full screen mode, then you have to ALT-TAB your way back and forth.

| Thanks guys. I was worried that this would be the answer. I'm surprised that this feature wasn't built into FSFS because tp be able to move quickly between FS and FSFS seems to me to be a basic requirement. Well, maybe the geniuses up there will think of a suitable patch because I'm sure the feature will be welcomed by everybody. Stan

Thing is; A key-combo (and it would have to be a combo - as keys - and combos are heavily used in FS9/FSX - and it would have to be one available in BOTH FS9 and FSX) would include pressing three buttons at once, like the ctrl-shift-D (for data) key-combo.
But the present easy way, the ALT-TAB - is a two key combo, and this combo is one used in all aspects of windows, so its known by most, and easy to remember. So to make a special key-combo to connect/disconnect FSFS would make things MORE complicated instead of simpler, as I see it anyhow, I agree that this might be plain conservatism, having used the program for so long and all, but still...... And the way I do it, well its even easier. As I said in the above post, I fly in windowed (maximized) mode, and I have FSFS on my process line. so I dont minimize anything. When I have a plane on the ground and am ready to use FSFS, then I just press the icon on the process line, and FSFS is brought up. I know that I then have to actually press the "connect" button, and what you suggest is a way to connect/disconnect WITHOUT bringing up FSFS, but 99% of the time I bring up FSFS, I have to do stuff in the FSFS program before connecting. (file a flightplan, alter pilotsettings, monitoring of something, change soundsettings, see the post flight verdict... whatever) so I would have to get the program in front anyway. and one mouseclick to bring it up, without minimizing FS, well thats about as easy as I can imagine.... But as I said, this is merely my opinion, and any other opinion is just as valid....

| Hi Ole What you say does make sense. I have also found that I'm running out of key combinations. I have always flown in full-screen mode as I read somewhere that it is more advisable to do so than in window mode, and of course it does look better , but I guess one could easily switch to window mode (Alt-Enter) to quickly access FSFS and then do your thing and then revert back to full screen. What I have been doing is to hit the windows key (the one with the windows squiggles on it) and M, which then brings up the desktop and suspends FS. I then have to restore FSFS, which has been minimised, connect it or whatever, and then restore FS by maximising the icon - a tedious business. I think I'll try your way. I would still say that it could be a convenient feature to have a shortcut key combination to connect FSFS while yoiu're flying. Cheers Stan
