Hi,
Small problem with FSFS in connection with a flight using a flightplan. I had to descend for about 10 nautical miles (following 344 deg guided by VOR) before turning at a final waypoint to the runway 1000 fts AGL (30 deg) and landing. My instructor kept on telling me "line up with the centerline" on the 10 miles before the turn to the runway although the turn was marked as a userdefined waypoint in my flightplan. I tried to Ctrl-Shift-X to "tell" him that I was only descending. I would expect FSFS to know the flightplan and therefore wait to tell me "line up to the centerline" until I have turned by the final waypoint just before the airport?

The problem is that you have autodetection of "landing mode" on. The manual describes the consequences of this, but in short, if you have autodection of landing mode on, FSFS will assume that you go into landingmode at a certain height (descending) or a certain loss of altitude. FSFS knows (if you told) that you will land at this or that runway, the heading for it, and the correct way to descend, but your path to that is your own choice/problem 
What you need to do, is to go to the pilots tab of FSFS and uncheck the autodection of landingmode (and cruisemode -if you want to do that yourself too) And then - when you are properly aligned with the runway, coming in for the landing, you press ctrl-shift-1 (ot the other combo for going to next "mode" - I cannot remember that one)

| Well, what do you, I was just about to post the same question Lars and Ole. Thank you both for adding the input. And It´s cool to see that you use Mr. Whittle. Mr. Smith is the preffered instructor for most (as he is the default one I reckon) but it´s nice to hear other voices too, (sorry Smitty - I still love you, you know that!)
