Hi all,

I'm a beginner with FSFlyingschool2009, but have some experience with FS9 flying. I'd mostly like to fly a Boeing or Airbus and till now mostly fly the PMDG B737. That's one of the reasons I did not switch to FSX, because PMDG has no FSX version yet.
I read on this forum, that there are some very experienced users, so here are a few questions you maybe want to answer:

1. Do you have recommendations for flying good Boeing/Airbus aircraft in FSX?
2. Should I switch to FSX, or stay on FS9 for a time?
3. Are there sample flights to use with FSFS?

Thank you very much in advance.

Greetings,
Jacob.

Hi there Jacob

1) I can see that you already have the PMDG 737, and the PMDG and the Wilco planes are suppose to be really really good, for both the FS9 and FSX but its all a matter of preference and purse....

2) From a FSFlyingschool point of view, its completey indifferent. FSFlyingSchool works in exactly the same way on both. So its up your hardware and again - your preference.

3) All flights are "sample flights" with FSFS. You just start your flight, load FSFS and fly, and then FSFS and instructors will work their magic. Its really amazing, or at least it is for me..

So just enjoy the flying, and as you say, never to late to learn - and I might add, never to late to have lots of fun...

Happy flying, and keep us posted.

Ole Andreasen, Denmark

Jacob:

Welcome to the forum!

I'm a big fan of the PMDG 737 and 747 myself - wonderful work.

If it helps - I can suggest that you try the free demo of FSFS (unless you've already registered it - in which case thanks!).

Try it with FS2004 and see how you like it. Remember that it works with FS2004 and with FSX so if you get FSX you won't need to buy another FSFS.

As to the planes, my own experience is that the nicely done add-ons are far superior to the planes included with FS.

Famous Flight Simulation author Captain Mike Ray points out that the systems on the airliners in FS are not very accurate. If you read his books, or any manual on the actual planes you'll see that the controls and systems in FS airliners are really quite odd - they are an approximation of the real thing - not merely simplified but actively incorrect in many cases.

You'd know this of course from flying the PMDG planes. I just wanted to recommend that you fly add-ons in FSX too, if you get it.

Having said that, I get by in testing FSFS here at The Sinister Lab with standard FS planes most of the time. Heck - they're included ("free") and the FSX planes are generally better than the FS2004 planes.

Finally - Ole is right as ususal   - every flight is a potential lesson with FSFS. There are no formal lessons except for flying circuits, but the instructor is always watching, commenting and helping, every time.

You can fly the missions and lessons in FSX or FS2004 with FSFS along side you and this leads to some very chatty moments in the cockpit!
