Hi all
Just wondering how do you guys know that your setting on the VOR or ILS approach is accurate in FS9. I always find that I'm about 2 degrees out when attempting an approach and it gets a bit hairy trying to precision tune it on approach, which of cousre is somethine you should not be doing at that stage of the flight.
In fly!, tuning is way more precise and just hovering you mouse pointer over the dial would display the heading if you were in doubt. FS9 don't seem to do this, it just displays the equipment name with no values.

I have just purchased FSflyingSchool9 and always fly with the instructor. Pressing CTL+SHFT+D (i think) get him to read out exactly your VOR heading; this way i can determine whether my heading setting is spot on and can then adjust the dial precisely.

Hi Tradesman

You are absolutely right. It is very annoying that you cannot in the small planes determine the exact position of your OBS dial. Luckily we have FSFlyingSchool, where, as you so correctly say, we can get the instructor to tell us the exact setting, by pressing the Data combo; ctrl-shift-D (Think of D for Data Squdaronleader always says )

Spot on guys!

Also - remember that if you set NAV1 OBS before you start landing mode, the instructor will say something like...

"According to NAV1 OBS we have a runway heading of 248 degrees..."

This confirms your setting for you without even having to press Crtl Shift D. Oh - think of "D" for (D)ata...

Excellent, maybe the software could be expanded to include VOR 2 and possibly the heading because the heading bug tend to hide your exact heading. Even without the heading-bug it is difficult to determine whether you are on a heading of 67 degrees or 69, making precision flying that much more difficult. I think anyway

Excellent piece of software by the way

Sorry for the double post of this reply in the other thread.

Thanks for the kind words and the good ideas! Hmmm... - yes we could add more data, perhaps with a new additional key to display it.

Can we quote you?
