When I connect to FSX, FlyingSchool crashes. The error message is: "Unable to play the file on the device." If FSX is paused the connection is ok. unpause and I get the Nav message than maybe a few more word than 'crash'. One way it crashes is: At end of runway: press ctrl-shift z to advance to takeoff. Instructor starts speaking: "about to takeoff" weather is... 'crash' I have fsx sp; fsFlyingSchool 1.9.2 (Demo), FSUIPC 4.3, Vista Ultimate sp1. For hardware I have Saitek flight yoke throttle. I like the program, but won't buy untill this problem is resolved!

Thanks for your interest in FSFS. We can find no reference to the "Unable to play the file on the device" error you have reported. Can you send us a screen shot of the PC when the error occurs? To send us a screen shot, press the Print Scrn (print screen) button on your PC keyboard to capture the entire screen and then PASTE that information into an email to us at info@fsflyingschool.com To PASTE the screen capture, simply press Ctrl V while typing in the body of an email to us. The email will need to be in HTML format (not plain text).

My 2 cents worth, (and I hope I'm not out-of-line by replying)
Go to Windows, System, Hardware Devices, and make sure the Sound Card is 'ok' (no yellow or red marks)
Then Control Panel, Sound, and see that the device is 'default'
Finally, in FS/x make sure the same sound device is selected.
I had a 'similar' issue when I plugged in my USB headset.
I had to use the 'Realtek' wizard to get it to work with Windows,
before FS/x would use it properly.
I'm just an FS FlyingSchool user, and it's AWESOME - so I hope you get your sound issue resolved.

A little more information. First I got FSFlyingSchool to work It seems that the error code is from Direct Sound. I did a search for it on MSDN and got a hit. Somewhere between my hard drive and Direct Sound a wav file was corrupted or at least that is what Direct Sound reported . I reset all of my Realtek and Vista sound settings and changed the instructor. I had a nice flight (until I crashed the airplane trying to land. LOL), but FSFlyingSchool worked as it was supposed too. YA! I will try using the other instructors and see if they work ok. If not then I will re-install and see if that fixes the problem.
So for now it looks like I will be obtaining a license so I can fly out of airports near home. Chicago is to far north.

Noisemaker:
I knew you would find it. I've 'just' installed Vista, and first thing it said was "Realtek" not supported; so I'm installing a Creative Labs Audigy to ensure I get supported sound.
Congrats on finding the problem. And I don't think YOU crashed. The ground jumped up and smacked your plane......LOL

Biggles My realtek is built into the mother board and other than the recent problem I have had no problems with the Vista - Realtek combination. I didn't get the not supported message when I installed Vista so I don't know why you got it. Perhaps you need to go to Realtek and down load Vista drivers. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
