I was on a flight and Mr Smith kept on thinking I was going to land when I wasn't. I tried to turn off the "Automatic Detection Setup" on the Pilots page but it was unavailable during a flight.

Could it be enabled so that I can change it during a flight?

Dan:

The landing will only be auto-detected if an appreciable steady descent is begun, so this should not be a problem if the aircraft if cruising smoothly.

There are many items at the Pilots Page which would cause a tangle if changed during a flight, but I see that some things could be useful.

We will add this to our list of things to evaluate for the next version.

Hi Dan,

Used to drive me crazy as well, but I just turned off the auto detect landing prior to starting a flight, and hope to heck I remember to tell Mr. Smith I'm landing.  In the heat of the moments of getting everything done, you'll forget from time to time is the only drawback.

I like to be able to control weather I take-off, land or cruise, so I turned that auto-thing off long time ago, and eventually it becomes second nature, to, of cause, tell your instuctor that you are about to land. Just at telling him/her when you finish take-off and start to cruise.

I mapped the "advance" button to my flightstick to it´s just a click, and it´s as natural now, as pressing the landing gear button.

Ole has a good system.

Also - there is no built in penalty for switching back to the previous flight mode if you advance it when you did not mean to.

And if you are not sure what mode you are in, press Ctrl Shift D     (D for data).

-And I have that one mapped also. Use it frequently, to see that MsA is still with me. (And she is)
