i have the 747-400 and each time i wish to fly, the fsflyingschool says: disconnecting due to unknown aircraft.

But in the manual there is a 747-400 mentioned.

So i am knew in this forum and would like to ask:what is wrong?

kind regards,

Doeke Brouwer

Welcome to the forum!

It all depends on whose 747-400 you are flying.

If it is the default aircraft shipped with FS2004 or FSX, then FSFlyingSchool will recognise it. If it is an aircraft made by another vendor of add-ons then it will not, unless its basic aircraft data has been given to FSFlyingSchool by the pilot. This is saved in an FSU file in the FSFlyingSchool    aircraft     folder.

Please let us know who made the aircraft - was it Microsoft or another vendor?

Which version of Flight Simulator are you using?

Doeke:

Ah - there's the answer.

This version (by Aerosoft) is not yet in our 'Hangar'.

The manual fully describes how to add a new aircraft at the aircraft page of FSFS.

Alternatively, if you prefer and you know your way around files and folders... we can get you flying right now using the following simple method.

You need to determine the exact name of the folder in which the data for your 747 resides.

This will be a folder within:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes

(the path may be different if you installed FSX elsewhere).

So - for example - the folder might be called:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG747-400

(This is an example)

The part we are after is the last folder which in our example is:

PMDG747-400

In order to add this aircraft to FSFS, you need to copy the existing file

C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Aircraft\b747_400.fsr

and paste it into the folder

C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Aircraft

but then rename the file to have the same name as the folder in which the Aerosoft plane has its data, for example:

C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Aircraft\PMDG747-400.fsr

and finally change the file extension so it is:

C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Aircraft\PMDG747-400.fsu

Once this is done, you can get your plane on the runway ready to fly and then launch the FSFlyingSchool program and then press Connect. (Always get ready to fly before starting FSFlyingSchool).

You will now be able to fly the Aerosoft 747 with FSFS!
