I just purchased the FSflyingschool software but after installing I do not hear any sound
I am running FSX with the latest version of FSUIPC( not registered) on a Windows Vista sp1 machine
Intel core 2
1.86 mhz,
Ram, 2gb
Video: Nvidia geforce 8800 GTS
In the program, if you hit the ‘listen to instructor’button, I do not hear anything
FSX is running fine with no problems what so ever.
Can you help me please?
====================
Thanks for purchasing FSFlyingSchool!
Sorry to hear about the problem.
The good news is that FSFS is running all over the world with XP and Vista in FSX and FS2004.
The problem is almost certainly caused by non-standard sound hardware or software or configuration on the PC in question.
Is there anything unusual about the sound hardware or software or configuration on the PC?
A very small number of users have reported sound problems, in which the resolution appeared to be related to:
USB Headphones OR
WinAmp being the default WAV player OR
Skype being active
Please read this forum post

and see if it rings any bells - then let me know. You might try testing by disabling any uncommon components or configurations which relate to sound. This is all quite easy to test as it is likely you don't need to involve FSX or FS2004 at all. You can just launch FSFS and press the 'Listen to Instructor' button at the Aircraft Page.
Please let us know how you get on.
Best Regards -

Thanks for your mail.
I have no issues with my sound card. It’s on board sound and works fine also with FDC live cockpit for example
I do not have Skype installed and all my sound files( wav’s) are associated with windows Media Player.
I do not have or use a headphone.
I can hear the sounds if I select them directly in the Windows explorer map
If I start FSFS only and no other programm is running, I cannot hear any sound if I hit the ‘listen to instructor’button
I can see that FSFS is working in FSX but I do not hear any sound.
Fyi, I did not install the program in the proposed path on the C drive. I selected the map on another drive where FSX is installed.( want to keep all programms together)
Could this be the problem?
What are the specific configuration settings behind FSFS for the sound to work?
I know my way around with computers but I am out of solutions with regard to FSFS
I hope you have some more tips for me to try

This is most unusual - we have not had a case where the sound could not be made to work.

It should not affect it in any way.

There is nothing which needs to be done - it is all standard XP and Vista.

Which instructor is shows in the box in the sound set up at the Pilots Page? Is it blank?
Please send me the
settings.ini
file from the
C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool (or wherever it is on the PC)
and all the .plt files in the
C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\PilotRoster
folder.
We'll get there!

I believe it is a problem with Vista sp1 and the IDT HD Audio Codec
I have on another disk in the same computer with Windows XP so I started it up in Windows XP and run the program and I could hear the sound.
So I will read a bit more in the internet but if you know something specific about this configuration , Windows Vista sp1 and IDT HD Audio Codec( for the on board intel sound)
please drop me a mail.
If I find the solution meanwhile I will let you know

Yes it is definitely a problem with Vista SP1 and the audio driver from Intel for their onboard sound IDT HD Audio Codec
The problem is that you need to install Intel’s driver for it to work.
As I already had the intention to purchase a separate sound card , I just did and installed the Creative Lab X-FI Extreme Audio and everything is working fine now with FSFS.
