I'm new to flying and to FS. I installed both for FSX Steam and X-Plane 11. I am disappointed with the "instructors" as they do not teach you to fly. They take existing pilots and better their skills. There is nothing for newbies like me.
If you want a true "test pilot", count me in. I've got about 10 hours in the simulator with very little hands-on instruction.

I have FS Academy VFR&IFR and tried Gleim X-Plane Flight Training Course Demo, they are pretty good. It would have very good addition to get formal lessons on own airfield.

Thanks for your input to the discussion! We continue to explore the possibilities for formal lessons - and our path is of course also affected by the changing market and the response we get to this topic here and, more importantly, the surveys in which we have asked about formal lessons.
One thing has become clear, the lessons would indeed need to be at scripted locations, with scripted planes, scripted weather, time, date, etc. and they would never vary (just like the Machado lessons or the 'missions' in Microsoft Flight Simulator and FSX).
