I note that the instructor assumes that we're landing when I start to descend, even though there is still a long way until landing. He tells me to stay lined up with the runway well before I need to do that. Is this normal?

Hi again Rick:

This will occur if Automatic Detection Setup has "Landing Mode" ON at the Pilots screen of FSFlyingSchool 2022 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I recommend that you now turn this OFF so you have complete control of the flight mode yourself.
