Recently returned to Flight Sims and moved to P3Dv4.
Upgraded my FSX FSFS Pro 2014 to 2018 P3Dv4 version.
Downloaded latest version of Carenado C208B HD.

I don't understand why FSFS thinks the C208B has spoilers and that they are deployed.
Any ideas?

Terry (suitably confused)

Hi Terry:

As you can imagine there are a lot of different add-on planes out there and we don't test every one of them - this means that from time to time pilots find a plane which is indicating information to the simulator which is not standard and as a result the instructor will be told, by the simulator, that the plane has something it does not, or is missing something it has.

In the case of the spoilers you can connect and fly with the plane (for a few seconds) then disconnect and at the Aircraft Screen of FSFlyingSchool try clearing the 'spoilers' checkbox for the plane and pressing 'Save User Data' which will mean what you have indicated will override what is being automatically deduced.

This mostly works, but depending on what data we are receiving from the simulator, it may not.

If it does not then your 2nd option is to simply rename the spoilers related sound files in FSFlyingSchool.

For Mr Smith, this would be the file

RetractSpoilers.wav

in the folder

MrSmith

inside the

Sound

folder of

FSFlyingSchool.

Just rename it to something else and you will not hear it played.

Thanks Jeff

I'll sharpen my editing pencil and give it a try.

Hi Terry:

Excellent!

Another thing I just remembered... it may be that the spoilers checkbox is not already turned on at the Aircraft Screen of FSFlyingSchool - in which case your only option is to go to the 2nd step I described and rename the sound file.

We've been planning (for rather a long time) to offer a means for the pilot to indicate at this screen that the plane does not have this or that - and that this indication would categorically override any data coming from the simulator. Effectively "I insist that this aircraft does not have (this or that)!"

We've had issues with this but still hope to bring it to FSFlyingSchool soon.
