I recently purchased and installed FSFS 2016 for x-plane 10. When I attempt to start it after starting x-plane I get an error message that says, "Flying School has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

The next time I try to run the program I get an error message that says, "Problem with shortcut. The item 'FSFlyingSchool.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?" When I search for the file it has been deleted from the folder. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times and have only seen it work once--and then only briefly. Most times I don't even get to the screen asking where X-plane is installed.

X-plane 10.45 Home
I am running Windows 10
I have installed XPUIPC in X-plane 10\Resources\Plugins
I installed the program in the default folder suggested by the installer.
X-plane is installed on my D: drive

Thanks, Tom

I had a slightly similar problem with the FSFS.exe file being deleted after being run. This was due to my Anti-Virus saying that the exe file was infected. Running the Anti-Virus individually on the exe file and also on the downloaded zip file showed that there was no infection so I just overrode the AV program (told it to ignore FSFS.exe) and now I'm up and running with no problems.

Hi Tom:

As we can see from KiwisCanFly's very helpful post, it is unfortunately the case that anti-virus software can sometimes decide that popular software is dangerous simply because it does not recognize it - and it can even delete the software without the user being fully aware of what is happening.

You will need to determine what your security software is and tell it to leave FSFlyingSchool alone. This can be described in anti-virus software as "Make an exception" or "trust" or "allow" etc.

Once this is done your anti-virus software will leave it alone.

Thank you both. The problem was my antivirus software. Once I entered the exception it worked flawlessly.

Thank you again,
Tom
