I believe that I read somewhere that FSIA can be run on a Client Computer.

Can someone please provide some guidance on how to do this.

I currently run my panels and weather on a client computer to take some of the burden off the FSX computer, and would like to also run FSIA on that computer.

Hi RG:

Thanks for your interest in FSIA.

FSIA is designed to be used on the same PC as the simulator, but some folks have indeed had success using our products on networked PCs using WideFS. We make no claims in this area and do not provide support for such use.

That does not mean we advise that it should not be done.

The best part is that you can test all our products with our free demo versions which have no time limit. The latest demo (FSIA PRO 2015) is here...

Thank you for the quick response. I thought that I had read what you stated, but could not find it when searching.

I have purchased FSIA (not the 2015 version, as that was not available when I purchased.

I will post the results of my attempt to use over a network when I have time to install.

I installed FSIA Pro on my client computer without incident.

When attempting to identify the location of FSX (which is on my server computer), when I browsed and selected NETWORK, the Network did not expand to show the other computers on the network.

All computers on my network are in the same HOMEGROUP (Windows 8.0 Pro), and can see one another from Windows.

My solution was, using Windows Network, to browse to the server, and then to the Drive with FSX, and MAP that Drive in Windows (in my case I used Drive Z

In FSIA Pro I could then identify the location of FSX as Z:\FSX

So, FSIA Pro runs perfectly over a network using the above procedure.

I have just purchased the Upgrade to FSIA 2015, and will report my findings when I have installed the Update.

One question, for which I have not found the answer, is:

Must I uninstall FSIA Pro, before installing FSIA 2015?

Hi:

When you have purchased it, you should install FSIA PRO 2015 onto the PC which already has an existing, registered installation of FSIA PRO.

That is exactly what I did. First made a disk image, in the event the original needed to be removed first. Then installed FSIA 2015 over FSIA Pro (V2).

Same results regarding the setup. No expansion of the NETWORK when browsing to set the FSX path. MAPPING the server drive that contains FSX works.

So I can report that both FSIA Pro (V2) and DSIA 2015 work over a network.

Now to play with it a bit.

RodeoGeorge

I might mention that I am running FSIA 2015, REX Essentials +OD, REX TD4 w/Soft Clouds, and simplugins Panels on the Client Computer.

Only FSX runs on the Server Computer.
