Hi Folks!
My first post (oooh!)
I've been trying the demo version and while I can see it has lots of potential there's one tiny thing that's been annoying the heck out of me. I refer to the obnoxious little brat that 'stows away' on my practice flights. I don't know who she is, but she's no relative of mine and I never invited her along. The first time she piped-up with "I wanna ice-cream," was mildly amusing. However, a short while later, just as I was trying to concentrate on getting set up for landing, she screamed, "Are we there yet?", which totally threw me off and I bally well nearly pranged the kite. I was left with a malicious wish for pilot-controlled ejector-seats to be installed in the Cessna - but the school said it couldn't afford them, even if a retrofit was possible. The best they could offer was to contact FSFlyingSchool and beg them for an 'opt-out' button in the next version.
In a similar vein ... I've tried flying with several instructors now. I found Mr Mitchell to be too much like myself and had to suppress an urge to push him from the aircraft on several occasions. Ms Aviatrix was much too 'modern' for my taste, and displayed absolutely no respect for, nor understanding of, anyone of the male persuasion over the age of 25.
Of the rest, Mr Smith was by far the most agreeable. I found him to be a thoroughly decent chap and an all-round good egg. His only fault was his insistent habit of informing me - on a regular basis - about the move of some major American airlines from the Chicago airport I was obliged to fly from (demo version, don't forget). Come to think of it, he WAS rather irritating with his inane comments about how Chicago was 'his' kind of town and how great the coffee was. That's as may be, but the bugger never offered to buy me some of this great coffee whenever we landed (pah!). Ah, well ... I suppose one has to put up with such eccentricities in return for half-decent (and cheap!) tuition.
Overall, then, I'm enjoying my first experience of FSFS - it has all the makings of a jolly fine piece of kit. My congratulations to the makers.

Biffer: Welcome to the Forum old chap: >> I've been trying the demo version and while I can see it has lots of potential there's one tiny thing that's been annoying the heck out of me. Capital observations! We have good news for you too... The Pilots Page has an option to turn off Background Humour - this guarantees that security at your chosen airfields will be up to the task of preventing the little wretch stowing away on any of your future flights. >> In a similar vein ... I've tried flying with several instructors now. I found Mr Mitchell to be too much like myself and had to suppress an urge to push him from the aircraft on several occasions. Old Masher Mitchell - he's a first rate beggar, but can come over as a bit of a stuffed shirt sometimes. Hasn't paid his mess bill since '40 either... >> Ms Aviatrix was much too 'modern' for my taste, and displayed absolutely no respect for, nor understanding of, anyone of the male persuasion over the age of 25. Yes - she's a handful - but can provide a diverting break from the all male feel of the hobby once in a while. She does shout at one though... >> Of the rest, Mr Smith was by far the most agreeable. Captained the rowing team, Head Prefect - even raffled off his trousers to buy another bottle of Bolly at the party he threw after they threw him out of his club. Won't pay for coffee though. Bit of a dark horse... >> Overall, then, I'm enjoying my first experience of FSFS - it has all the makings of a jolly fine piece of kit. My congratulations to the makers. Splendid - glad to hear you're getting something out of the beggar and many thanks for the kind words. We look forward to another instalment of your observations at your earliest convenience. TTFN

Biffer: Good to hear from you again, old chap. Hmmmm - I'll have to see if your favourite stowaway can be persuaded to come up with a whole new set of one-liners for the next version. Something tells me that she's become... A TEENAGER and her demands manifest a significant level of escalation. Isn't it great? Flight Simulation is so relaxing. If it's not distraction from the back seat, it's switches that don't work, an instructor that shouts at you and engines which have a mind of their own... Want relaxation? Balderdash! Get some decaffeinated tea, a romantic novel and take an aromatherapy bath...
