I've just started using FSFlyingSchool and I've noticed one odd thing.
All my flights seem to show "Autopilot Used" in the Log, even though I haven't been using the autopilot. I guess this is affecting my scores too, although at present they are so bad that I can't be sure :-)
Any thoughts welcomed.
I'm using version 1.8 with FS2004 on Vista

John: I see what you mean - I hope I have good news for you... In the past, the only instances (a couple) of this phenomenon we've seen have been due to the fact that in FSFlyingSchool, the pilot presses Ctrl Shift Z to advance the flight mode when necessary. It is possible, when advancing the flight mode, to press the Z key by itself, and in Flight Simulator this will toggle the autopilot instead. If it is on for more than 10 seconds, even if later turned off, the instructor will reduce the pilot's score. We have never yet had a report of the autopilot being on when it really was not. Could this scenario explain your experiences? (I know I've done this once or twice!) Oh - also note that you can press Ctrl Shift 1 instead if you prefer, to advance the flight mode. Please let us know.

I think you might be right. Since I sent this post in I've had some flights without the "autopilot used" indicator showing up. I thought at first it might have something to do with the aircraft selected but there was no correlation between the aircraft used and whether or not the "autopilot used" indicator was flagged. This sounds like the probable answer.
I guess I'll need to watch my fingers more closely. Thanks for the response!

John: Programming keystrokes into your joystick or yoke is a great way to go too. Have fun!
