Flying with FSX withoutILS the cockpit panel includes icons for various functions such as "map" - "radio stack" - etc. When flying with ILS these icons are not included on the cockpit panel. Is there some way to include the icons on the ILS version of the cockpit panel ?

Hi:

I am not sure if I can help with your question - it seems to be about FSX rather than our own software.

But I will try...

The icons you mention will vary from plane to plane and from publisher to publisher - and I think you are perhaps referring to flying with the IFR cockpit display?

Keep in mind that most of the icons' actions can be produced by keys - such as Shift 2, Shift 3 etc. What these keys do will depend on the plane and the publisher.

Which specific plane are you using?

Sorry I confused you.  After rereading my post I was way off base.  What I meant to say is that when I use FSIA, the cockpit panel does not include the icon bar that permits "Display/Hide" icons that for example display and hide the ATC window, Compass, MAP, GPS, as well as others.  This icon bar is very handy and I thought I might be able to include it when flying FSIA in lieu of having to use the keypad. This icon bar does appear on all cockpit panels of the aircraft available under FSX when flying using only FSX.  Thanks for your quick reply.  I have been using FSIA for only a couple of weeks and I think it is great software and above all, very user friendly.

Hi:

Thanks for your kind words about FSIA!

I see what you mean - our software does nothing to control the appearance of the icon panel in FSX and so there must be some other factor involved.

Yours is the only such report we have received and this suggests something unique about your PC or your use of FSX.

Can you tell me, in how many different planes have you noted this phenomenon?

All of the aircraft included in my FSX Gold Edition w/acceleration show this icon bar on the cockpit panel.  Some other aircraft that I have downloaded into FSX such as the Boeing F/A-18 (HUD only),  North American P-51D and the Robin Avion Dauphine DR400/180 do not pick up the icon bar.  On the other hand, I downloaded "Wings of Power" and all of the included WWII aircraft do pick up the icon bar.

Hi:

Sorry, let me be more specific...

Can you tell me, in how many different planes have you noted the disappearance of the icon bar only when you are flying with FS Instant Approach?

As I mentioned we do nothing at all the control the icons - this is a puzzling report.

Actually, and contrary to what I previously said, all of the original MFSX aircraft when flying with the FSIA cockpit do contain the infamous icon bar that I have been talking about.  The extra downloaded aircraft , except for "Wings of Power" do not show the icon bar when using FSIA.  I am a happy user.  Thanks for your interest in the subject.

Hi:

Yep - the icon bar is controlled by the publisher of the aircraft - not by us.

Glad you are happy! Have a great weekend.
