Hi,

I just bought FSIA and installed it. It can recognize the path to my FS2004, but for some reason it just does not recognize it.
It does not matter if i start FS2004 or not, i get the red 'Status: No flight simulator found' message.

In the settings section it tells me that it cannot find FSUIPC either.

I have FSUIPC 3.99, the free version. I tried starting FSIA in admin mode, but that does not help either.

Can someone help out with this? I do not have any other ideas to try.

Thanks!

Hi:

Thanks for your interest in our products!

Sorry to read you are having this trouble - I am sure we can sort it out for you.

I'll start with some questions...

- Did you have FSUIPC already installed before you installed FSIA?

- If so - were you using it for anything?

- Does FSUIPC appear on the MODULES menu of FS2004 when you are in a plane? (If it is not there - it is not correctly installed).

- Can you tell me the date, time and file size of the file:
FSUIPC.DLL
in the MODULES folder of your FS2004 installation on your PC?
The path to this would normally be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules

- Can you confirm that FS2004 and FSUIPC and FSIA were all installed by the same user AND that the user was an administrator of the PC?

Please let me know and we'll press on from there.

Thanks for coming back so quick.

Here are the answers to the best of my knowledge.

- I did have FSUIPC already installed, but i believe the version was 3.8 something, and when it did not work with FSIA i then installed the latest one (3.99)
- I do not remember if there was anything i was using it for. I believe i installed it as i understood everyone should have FSUIPC installed.
- FSUIPC does appear in the Modules menu of FS2004.

FSUIPC.dll - Date: 08/08/12 1.19PM Size: 298Kb

All 3 programs were installed using the admin account of the PC i am on.

Hope these answers help.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Thanks for the data!

As the next step can you do this...

You should always launch FSFlyingSchool as an administrator or Windows may prevent operations such as saving your own data to your PC.

This step is important even if you are an admin and the only person who uses the PC...

To do this just right click on the icon which launches FSFS and choose "Run as Administrator" - you should also indicate that this is a permanent choice in the "Properties" of the icon - accessed by a right click - in the "Advanced" button on the "Shortcut" tab.

Please do this and let me know if it all then works.

I have already tried that and it did not work.
I have just tried it again, and setting the app to run as admin always, and no luck.

FSIA does not recognize FS9 or FSUIPC...

Hi,

This is what it says (FS2004)

FSUIPC Information
Sim is: N/A FSUIPC Version: N/A Read Errors: N/A Time: N/A Runways: N/A

This part changes while i am starting FS2004
When i start the app i see this:
FSUIPC Status: Can't connect - IPC contains bad data

Then it shows this:

FSUIPC: ... Maybe running Wide.... - i cannot read this part as it goes by too quickly

And the last message is

FSUIPC: Can't connect - Incorrect version of FSUIPC, or not FSUIPC

Fixed it!
It was a faulty FUIPC.key file. I delete it and now everything works fine.

Thanks for the help!

Whoa - excellent result!

So the file FSUIPC.key contained bad data?

I think this is the first such case we have seen - thanks for letting us know how you solved it - it all helps as folks can of course search this forum for help, and that is often the fastest way to get a solution.

For future reference for anyone looking at this case...

...please note that the fault here was with the data on the user's PC in the folder which stores FSUIPC data (the "Modules" folder on this FS2004 system).

This data was not placed there by our software and therefore the problem was already in place before our software was installed.

I mention this to avoid possible future confusion over cause and effect.
