Hi all

Hope someone might be able to answer how small the Bitmap files have to be so that FSFS will add them to the Pilot Roster...

I've tried images scaled down in MS Paint to 9kb and every time i click on select image and pick my bitmap from the list (the image has been copied into the roster image folder), it says that the image is too large !  The images are now even smaller than the two default images that came with the programme..

I'm confused to say the least.

I'm funning FSFS Pro on a W7 64bit. And to get FSFS running at all i have to right click the icon in the Start menu every time. Windows 7 access control just won't let me run it any other way.  Could this be the issue ?

Anyone got any bright ideas ?

Thanks

HLMinx

Hi -

1. Can you email the image file you are trying to use to
support@fsflyingschool.com
and we will take a look at it?

2. You can right click on the FSFS shortcut and pick 'Properties' from the menu and then click the 'Advanced' button and turn on "Run as administrator" for the program so that it will always run as administrator without having to specify it each time.

Hi there

Thanks for the reply. I'll send the image when i'm at home so you can have a look.

Re the running as Administrator, i tried that with the shortcut and i kept on getting a message saying that there was a 'write' error (cant recall the exact error code and wording), so i just deleted the shortcut and i'm going through the start menu each time.... One of the things i HATE about Win 7 !  I could try and set up another shortcut to see if it wants to play ball..

Will update the forum with my progress

:-)

Hi SquadronLeader

Apologies for my tardiness in replying!

I have emailed you 3 images as suggested, two of which are 9KB which is smaller than the 2 provided with the program. Hopefully you can tell me what i've been doing wrong. Its not the end of the world as i only see it when I'm on the pilot roster, but it seems a shame to just accept I cant get it working... i hate loose ends..

On another note, the suggestion you gave me about the check box in the Admin settings of the shortcut was genius!  In fact, this little nugget of info may have just answered a question that has irked me for some time with other Win7 shortcuts... Liberation at last from the dreaded Start Menu !

Thanks again for your help on the above.

Best regards

Minx

ps. I should also add how great the FSFS Pro version is. I was using the previous version for about 6 months. I love the extra info re the Cessna 172, and the On Approach feature is so useful for practising approaches and landing without having to set up yet more configurations in FSX, or take off from scratch each time. An inspired addition which is worth upgrading for.

Hi:

Here is the relevant section from the Pilots Page section of the FSFS Pro manual...

- Select Image
If you wish to give your pilot a face or perhaps a colourful logo, place the image you want to use
into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\FSFlyingSchool\PilotRoster\Images
folder (or perhaps in another folder if you chose a different installation path).
The image must be in the GIF, JPG or BMP file format and must be no more than 80 pixels high by 80 pixels wide.
Press the Select Image button to select the image file you want.
The image will be shown in FSFlyingSchool when that pilot is selected and will also appear in the full pilot log book HTML file.
